Mercedes C63 AMG Overview

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is a mid-size luxury performance sedan produced by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz.

The C63 is a two-door, four-seat sports sedan that was first introduced in 2008. The C63 competes with other high-end luxury cars such as the BMW M4 and Audi RS5.

The C63 has been produced since 2008, with the most recent model being released in 2022 (w206). There have been 4 generations of this vehicle so far, each offering more power than its predecessor.

The first generation of the Mercedes AMG C63 came out in 2008 with a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine that produced 451 hp and 443 lb-ft.

This was enough power to allow this car to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just 4.5 seconds.

Difference between Mercedes C63 and C63s

The main difference between the Mercedes c63 and the c63s is the fact that the c63s is a tuned version of the standard c63. With 510 HP under its hood, the C63s packs 34 more horses than its standard sibling (c63).

Engine

The 0-60 time for both 3.8 seconds for the S and 3.6 for non-S models is surprisingly close to each other despite that difference in performance.

Both versions have the same 4.0L Bi-turbo but the S version has a better-tuned suspension and engine.

Calipers

The first thing you’ll notice about the C63s is that it has red or yellow calipers, instead of grey/black ones like the C63.

Seats

The seats in the C63S are also different. The bucket sport seats with metal detailing are much more comfortable than the standard sport seats.

They also have more support and are better suited for spirited driving, take nothing away from the standard c63 seats which are comfortable and more luxurious than a normal c-class seat.

Intercooler

The C63s have a bigger intercooler that helps to keep the engine running cooler, which in turn helps to improve performance and fuel efficiency.

Engine Mounts

Another difference is the c63s is equipped with an electronic engine mount system that helps to keep the engine running smoother.

while the standard c63 has traditional engine mounts that work just as great but are inferior when compared to the electronic engine mounts.

Suspension

The suspension on the C63s is stiffer and offers better handling than the standard version. This is because they use an electronic slip differential that helps to improve traction and handling, especially when driving on the track.

The standard c63 is equipped with a mechanical differential that works just as well but isn’t as advanced as the electronic one.

Similarities between C63 and C63s

They both have a 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 AMG engine, and They both come with a 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

They both come standard with a multi-function steering wheel and a premium audio system. The size is also similar, with both cars having the same dimensions.

Is the C63s Worth the upgrade?

As an experienced car mechanic, I often come across certain upgrades that are simply not worth it, and upgrading from a C63 to a C63s is one of those, The C63 is an amazing car and is worth every penny, but the C63s isn’t worth the upgrade.

If you want to go from a C63 to a faster version of a Mercedes then go for the AMG GT instead, as it makes more sense to buy a faster car than one that can accelerate faster but still has the same top speed as your current vehicle and also feels and look completely different.
