The Mazda CX SUV is one of the most popular SUVs in its class, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon.
Its excellent driving dynamics and sporty looks make it a perfect candidate for modification, so if you have one of these SUVs in your garage, then here are some things to consider adding.
Mazda Cx5 Offroad Modifications
Installing a Lift Kit:
A lift kit will not only help you when offroading, but it also makes your vehicle look much better.
A lift kit allows you to add larger tires, which makes them stick out more from the body which gives your CX 5 a more aggressive stance.
A lift kit will give you more clearance on the ground so that you can go over rocks and other obstacles without damaging your vehicle.
There are many different types of lift kits, but I would recommend installing a 2-inch suspension lift kit if you do a lot of offroading with your Cx5 then 4-inch lift kits are better suited for those who do more hardcore offroading.
Installing a lift kit can be done by yourself if you have the right tools, but it is much easier and safer to have someone with experience install it for you.
Bigger Tires:
You can install bigger tires on your CX-5 and increase the clearance by a few millimeters.
I recommend going with a 31-inch tire if you do more hardcore offroading because the larger tread will improve traction in mud and snow.
Don’t go over 31 inches because your tires (Use this free tire size converter) will rub on the fender flares and cause damage to them, and will compromise the overall ride quality.
Offroading Tires:
The next thing that you will need to consider is the type of tires that you should use for offroading.
While regular all-terrain tires may work fine on pavement, they won’t have enough grip when driving through rocks, mud, and sand.
You will need to purchase a set of offroading tires, which are designed to provide better traction in these types of terrain.
There are many different types of offroading tires you can choose from, but one of the most popular options is the BFG KO2.
Grill fog Light Bar:
If you are planning on offroading at night, then you will need to purchase a grill fog light bar.
These light bars are designed to be mounted onto the front of your vehicle and provide additional lighting in low-visibility situations, this is useful when offroading because you will often be driving in low-visibility situations at night.
These light bars also provide a new look for your vehicle, which can be beneficial if you are looking to stand out from the crowd.
Roof Rack:
A roof rack is an essential part of any off-roading trip. It allows you to carry extra equipment like tents and sleeping bags as well as additional supplies such as food and water.
This can be extremely beneficial if you are planning on making a long journey or staying overnight in the wilderness.
Jerry Can:
A jerry can is a very useful item to have on hand when offroading. It allows you to carry extra fuel for your car, which may come in handy if you break down or run out of gas during your trip.
This could also be helpful if you are exploring new territory and want to make sure that you always have enough fuel in case of an emergency.
Mazda CX 5 Exterior Mods
Adding a Wrap:
A wrap can completely change the look of your CX5. It’s a great way to personalize your Mazda and express yourself, plus it makes for an easy and affordable modification.
There are many different types and styles available, so if you want something understated then consider a simple carbon fiber wrap or brushed aluminum finish.
If you want something bolder, then go for a vinyl wrap in bright colors like red or blue.
Sport Exhaust:
Let’s face it, the standard CX exhaust is simply not that great both in terms of looks and how it sounds – it’s a bit too quiet and tinny.
A sports exhaust will not only make your Mazda sound more aggressive but also look better with its stainless steel construction. It’s an easy mod to do yourself, and there are many options available on the market today.

Lowering springs:
There are many ways to lower your Mazda CX-5, but lowering springs are by far the best option. They not only make your SUV look better but also improve handling and performance.
You can get them in different levels of stiffness and customization depending on what you want from them – some will lower your Mazda more than others.
Sporty Rear Diffuser:
A sporty rear diffuser is another great way to customize the look of your Mazda CX-5. They are easy to install and come in a variety of colors that will match any vehicle color.

Installing Wheel spacers:
Installing wheel spacers will give your CX5 a more aggressive stance and also allow it to run wider tires, which will improve its off-road capabilities.
This Exterior mod is one of the first things I recommend to my clients who are looking to make their cause look a lot wider, improve handling and improve their off-road capabilities.
Rear Tow Hook:
A rear tow hook is an important safety feature for SUVs because it allows you to pull another vehicle out of trouble if needed. The CX5 doesn’t come with one standard but you can order one as an optional accessory.
Chrome Delete:
The chrome delete is a popular option that gives your CX5 a cleaner look. It replaces the silver trim with black, which makes it easier to match with other colors in your vehicle.
Although the chrome looks more classy in the CX5, In my opinion as a mechanic and a consumer, the black trim looks better. It gives your vehicle a cleaner look and makes it easier to match with other colors in your car.
Mazda Cx 5 Interior Mods
Wireless Charger:
Aftermarket Wireless charging is one of the most useful interior mods you can do to your CX 5 .
It’s one of the most useful mods that you can do to your Mazda CX 5 because it allows you to charge your phone wirelessly, so you don’t have to dig around for your charging cable every time you need a boost.
They are easy to install in fact you can easily replace the standard storage tray with a wireless charging pad.
Aftermarket HD Dashcam:
The importance of dashcams is always understated by most people. But it is one of the most important things you should install on your car.
Most dashcams come with a wide-angle lens and can record both audio and video, which makes them perfect for capturing accidents or unwanted events that happen while driving. Installing one on your CX 5 will provide you with peace of mind.
Retractable cargo cover:
Retractable cargo covers are a great way to keep your items safe while driving.
They can be installed on the rear of your CX 5 and are retractable, so you won’t have to worry about them getting in your way when not in use. I also categorize this mod as a useful interior mod and I believe every CX5 owner should get one.
All weather durable floor mats:
Weatherproof floor mats are a great way to protect your carpet from any dirt or water that gets into your CX5. These mats are made out of rubber and can be easily cleaned with soap and water when needed.
They can also be removed, which makes them a great choice for those who like to customize their Mazdas interior.
Interior LED Lights:
The standard interior lights are yellow and dull – they don’t look very appealing. The LED lights are white, which makes your car look more modern and stylish.
They also help to illuminate dark areas of the interior as well as make it easier to see things when driving at night or in low light conditions.
