This service check will ensure that your brakes are working efficiently and safely at all times, looking out for any signs that they may need repair or replacement soon.
It also ensures that your brake fluid is in its best condition and topped up if necessary. In the process the tech will check other fluids like the merc washer fluid to ensure they are at the right level.

How much does the Mercedes a5 service cost?
The cost of a Mercedes A5 service will depend on where you take your car and how much you choose to do yourself. Below are some examples of what you can expect to pay.
Dealership:
Mercedes dealerships usually charge between $500 and $800 for an A5 service, which includes oil change, check tires, fluids, and other checks.
The price will vary depending on whether you want the dealer to replace brake pads as well as the type of oil used.
It’s also worth noting that if you opt for synthetic oil at a dealership it will cost more than natural oil.
Many dealerships also offer discounts when buying multiple services at once or even offer free servicing after two years or so.
Independent mechanic:
If you choose to take your car to an independent mechanic then you will pay anywhere from $150-300 depending on how long the job takes them and if they have any parts left over from another job that day!
If it does take longer than expected then there may be a labor charge on top of this too but this is quite rare as most mechanics have their prices set in stone so there shouldn’t be any surprises when picking up your car!
Doing it yourself:
If you decide to do your own A5 service then it could save some money and will cost you roughly $100 but you will need to know what you’re doing and only attempt this if it really necessary.
If you don’t feel confident then it may just be easier to pay somebody else so they can take care of everything for you instead of risking causing any more damage due to inexperience!
How do I know when my Mercedes needs A5 service?
The system will indicate after 15000-20000 miles or two years. If the car is not used much, the service interval can be extended to twice as long.
The Service Interval Display will remind the driver with a message in the instrument cluster in this case “A5 service due” when it is time to have the next service performed on the vehicle.
This message will appear approximately two months before the next service is due (for example, at around 10,000 km [6,200 miles]).
How Far past service A5 reminder can you drive your Mercedes?
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you do it asap, if you don’t have the budget you can do it yourself or take it to a professional local.
Generally driving 500 miles more after the reminder won’t do any harm to your Benz but it is crucial that you don’t ignore service reminders if you want your MB to last longer.
Thanks for this advice!
My Mercedes E550 indicated it was 15 days past due for an A5 service. Now it won’t even start, so I can’t get it to a dealer as it won’t shift our of park and can’t bee towed. Any ideas?
